DONALD DOGBO

Donald Dogbo is an Ivorian musician and drummer, descended from a lineage of drummers through his grandfather. A true percussion virtuoso, he is distinguished by his ability to fuse traditional African rhythms with the energy of modern jazz, creating a musical signature that is both vibrant and innovative. His mastery of groove, boundless creativity, and stage charisma captivate audiences around the world.

Based in Canada since 2014, Dogbo is quickly making a name for himself on the Montreal art scene. He collaborates with renowned musicians and is noted for his electrifying performances. His concerts, which combine bass, ngomas, saxophone, piano, and drums, reveal the richness and power of African culture, transcended by bold jazz sounds.

In 2021, he released his very first album, Coubli (which means "to go on an adventure" in Bété, his native language), at MUZ – Montreal's event for mixed music. The album captivated with its rhythmic finesse and its ability to bring cultures together. His recognition reached a new peak in 2024, when he was named Radio-Canada Jazz Revelation and presented his project at the prestigious Montreal International Jazz Festival.

Currently, Dogbo is refining his second album, Ségui Sô (“back to the roots”), which is scheduled for release in October 2025. This new project continues his exploration of the fusion between traditional African rhythms and contemporary sounds, with bold collaborations and increasingly immersive compositions.

After an acclaimed tour with the Montreal Arts Council, Dogbo is rocking Montreal stages and aspires to take his musical universe across Quebec, Canada, and beyond. With his music, he doesn't just play rhythms: he tells stories and builds bridges between cultures.
