BIOGRAPHY

Born into a family of drummer-composers dating back to his great grandfather, Donald Dogbo is a visionary drummer, singer and composer from Ivory Coast based in Canada.

After being Senegalese rapper Didier Awadi's appointed drummer for several years, he moved to Canada in 2014, where he immediately integrated and excelled on the Montreal and Canadian art scenes. He began performing and recording with such Quebec-based world music talents as Djely Tapa, Wesli and Élage Diouf.

In 2021, he released his first album entitled Coubli, which means "to go on an adventure" in his native language Bété. His music is inspired by the evolution of jazz music, one that has deep roots in Africa and is projected into contemporary achievements, catalyzed by his various musical and cultural encounters in Africa until his arrival in Canada.

Coubli now has a highly acclaimed album to his name and features several notable collaborators, who join Donald in contributing to the dense and thrilling amalgam of styles that is his hallmark.
